What to Eat & What to Avoid

By 38kia

So busy lately I don’t even have time to troll some blogs. I don’t even have time to enjoy food out there.

I can only admire those posts about food from other blogs like monkeywong’s, hoongkiat’s, nastasshea’s, Gina’s .. & even Jennyhow also talked about food & gaining weight lately…

FOOD FOOD FOOD.. I want more FOOD !!

But do you know, choosing the wrong food will affect your mood easily?
Here are some tips !!

If you feel angry:
Avoid: Sugar foods.
Eat: Complex carbohydrates like whole-grain bread and cereals, potatoes, brown rice and pasta.

If you feel anxious:
Avoid: Alcohol, cake, chocolate, coffee and ice cream.
Eat: Fresh fruit, small amounts of dried fruit, pasta (plain, with low-fat tomato sauce), whole-grain bread, baked potato and rice.

If you feel bored:
Avoid: High-carbohydrate foods like bread, cake, cookies and pasta.
Eat: High-protein foods like grilled tuna fillet, flaked tuna fish or chicken with low-fat mayo.

If you feel depressed:
Avoid: Bread, cake, ice cream, pastries.
Eat: Whole-grain foods like cereal, pasta, rice and beans.

If you feel happy:
Avoid: Fatty foods, chocolate, alcohol.
Eat: Healthful foods of all kinds (just don’t overdo it).

Want to change your mood?
Angry?
Eat a grapefruit! It’s rich in pectin, a soluble fibre that lowers blood cholesterol and reverses the negative effects anger has on the body.

Need to be more mentally alert?
Reach for an apple. It contains lots of boron, which helps boost mental alertness.

Depressed?
Try a bowl of plain rice, a low-fat, no-cholesterol complex carbohydrate full of selenium, which may ward off depression.

Tired and depressed?
Grab a handful of raisins, rich in iron.

Lethargic?
Lean towards lentils, a good source of iron.

When you are depressed, you eat foods that are high in vitamin B complex, e.g, rice, barley, oat, wheat. Research shows that Vitamin B complex helps in production of serotonin, melatonin and dopamine. Those are hormones that are required for the brain to feel calm and relax.
